About Us

Global flavours sourced at home!

Local produce, delicious baked goods, amazing coffee and the best patio on the South Shore!

At Chicory Blue you will find everything from delicious savoury and sweet treats, take home meals and quick snacks, locally grown seeds, to sustainable staples, gifts and crafts.

Come browse the store, take a walk in the gardens and join us for coffee and lunch, soup and salad, delicious wraps and special brunches served Saturdays and Sundays.

We believe that fresh, local produce should be available to all at a reasonable price, along with interesting, hard-to-find pantry items and staples. We source our fresh produce – including grass-fed meat, milk and cheese – from right here in Nova Scotia and we stock an impressive array of foodstuffs from all over the world.

Our in-house offerings and take-away meals are all prepared with fresh local ingredients and often reflect our own passion for flavourful and healthy cuisine that leans into Middle Eastern and North African offerings. You can always find the best Falafel, hummus, tahini, and mezze plates on the South Shore and an ever-changing array of organic baked goods.

Our gardens are home to the best kept secret patio on the South Shore. When weather allows, we host outdoor music and arts performances on Friday nights. We also have community space to rent to hold small gatherings in our upstairs meeting rooms, where we host pop-up craft markets, fundraisers for local groups and Lunch and Learn sessions. Our library is already a comfortable place to curl up with a book and a cup of tea and will soon be an actual lending library.

Chicory Blue is housed in a  restored century old building that had been the home of Selwyn Langille’s General Store in Blockhouse, Nova Scotia. Our goal was to restore the building to its original glory and, just as importantly, to recreate its original role as the heart of a thriving community.
